Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on the part of Montreal called"the West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island located to the west of Montreal, but the West Island encompasses everything between the cities of Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is frequently referred to as her birthplace. However, she only was there for a brief duration. Brugel lived in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. In her early years, she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. In an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. Once I outgrew male partners at that point, I gave up. Former dancers often turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was an urging from her teacher of drama. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the school's annual production. She tried out and eventually got the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated from the program in 2000, earning a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions across both small and large screens, attracting the greatest interest when she was offered the role in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the sole Canadian in the Season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
